LINCOLN, Neb. -- The John Breslow Ice Hockey Center is hosting the 2017 Capital City Figure Skating Competition.

Sunday from 8a.m. to noon, 42 skaters from Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney and surrounding communities took the ice in over 30 events.

The competition is a new partnership with the Star City Figure Skating Club and the John Breslow Ice Hockey Center.

The Figure Skating Club President Jeff Gulzow says the club wanted to hold a competition in a center like the Breslow for a long time, so it was fantastic.

Competitors as young as four years old skated in multiple events, so there was a total of 72 individual start times for performances.

The Breslow Director of Programming, Kecia Zimmerman, says she hopes to make this an annual event.
