HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A trial is scheduled August 13th for a Juniata man charged with felony motor vehicle homicide in connection with a June 2017 traffic accident which killed a Hastings woman.

Court records show Peter Trausch, 22, was driving a pickup in the area of Roseland Lake west of Hastings June Fourth of last year. A passenger in his vehicle, Abby Horsley, 22, of Hastings, was sitting on the passenger window with her arms and feet outside the pickup. When the pickup hit a bump in the road, Horsley was thrown from the vehicle and suffered injuries from which she later died.

Trausch's attorney has asked that certain evidence and statements gathered at the scene be thrown out, claiming that Trausch was not read his Miranda rights. A ruling on that request is pending.

If convicted of felony motor vehicle homicide, Trausch could get up to 20 years in prison.
