KAAPA may build new office in south Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Kearney could be the site of a new administrative office building for a local ethanol company.

KAAPA Holdings, which operates a large ethanol plant west of Minden in Kearney County, has purchased two lots in south Kearney. The old Grandpa's Steakhouse is on one of those lots.

Kearney attorney Dan Lindstrom, who represents KAAPA, said they want to rezone the lot just south of the old steakhouse.

At Tuesday night's meeting the Kearney city council will vote on that zoning request.

The Kearney Planning Commission voted last month to recommend the zoning change to the city council. It's not known at this point when construction of the new office building would begin.

The site is located directly east of the Viaero Events Center.
