KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A judge will sentence a Kearney man for two felony burglary convictions connected to a string of drug-store break-ins in 2017.

26-year-old Jal Thong, of Kearney, pleaded no contest to the burglary charges. Four other related charges were dropped.

Court documents show he was arrested in June 2017 for burglary and possession of a controlled substance for a break-in at Medi-Cap pharmacy. He's also connected to three break-ins at Valley pharmacy and one at ABC drug.

The break-ins at Valley pharmacy were reported May 2 and 15, and on June 3. The ABC Drug break-in happened May 19. The Medi-Cap break-in was reported June 25.

In each case, numerous prescription drug pills were stolen.

Thong will be sentenced in June and could get up to 40 years in prison. However, the county attorney will recommend that the judge allow Thong to serve the sentences for both convictions at the same time.
