KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney man is serving a two year jail term for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Dana Mitchel, 25, was convicted on two misdemeanor counts of that charge and was sentenced to a year in jail for each.

Mitchel had been charged with felony sexual assault, giving cocaine and marijuana to a minor, and child abuse. Mitchel was accused of giving a girl cocaine and marijuana and then assaulting her over the July 4th weekend in 2016.

But prosecutors had to drop the felony charges because a witness was not available to testify.

Mitchel was also granted work release as part of the jail sentence.
