LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police say they are investigating whether a report of an active shooter on the Nebraska Wesleyan campus was a prank.
LPD said a call came into authorities from a sociology professor around 8:37 p.m., stating multiple students received a text message saying there was a suspicious person, possibly an active shooter, on campus.
These reports were untrue, and police confirmed the text was not sent by the university.
Police arrived on scene at 8:38 p.m., and searched several buildings, finding no suspicious activity or an active shooter.
Police are unsure at this point if the sent message was a mistake, or meant to cause panic.
Classes are in session as normal Thursday. The incident is under investigation.
