LSO arrests man found hiding in trunk

LANCASTER COUNTY - The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he ran from authorities, and was found hiding in a trunk behind an auto shop.

The incident took place when an LSO deputy pulled over an RV near 48th and West O Street in Lincoln, driven by Matthew Cooper, 33, of Tennessee.

When deputies were questioning Cooper, who had four transient passengers in his vehicle, he took off running.

A K9 unit was deployed, and Cooper was located hiding in the trunk behind an auto body shop.

Authorities said Cooper voluntarily opened the trunk when deputies alerted him of the K9, and he told police he ran because he believed he had outstanding warrants.

However, LSO said his warrants were “non-extraditable,” meaning he had no reason to run.

Cooper was charged with resisting arrest and providing false information.
