Lance's Journal: A Passion for Pickleball, Oct. 9, 2017

Bill Roehrs is one of three official ambassadors for Pickleball in Lincoln.

And Bill is a perfect man for the job. His enthusiasm for this relatively young paddle sport just comes bubbling over when he explains this fast-paced game that he discovered about 6 years ago while spending the winter in Arizona.

This long-time tennis player from York was a Pickleball natural, "It took about 30 seconds and I was hooked on the sport. It's a pretty easy sport to learn."

Bill likes to thrown out an interesting visual when he explains the game to newcomers, "Pickleball is like playing ping pong, but you're standing on the table."

The sport of Pickleball has become increasingly popular around the world over the past 20 years. But the sports itself dates back to 1965 in the state of Washington.
