There's a new teacher appreciation program in Nebraska called Apple Wishes.'
The woman who started Apple Wishes calls it a 'pay it forward' program that allows teachers to reach out to their fellow teachers by giving them gifts of gratitude.
Kelly Smith has been dishing out directions to grade Schoolers for the past 35 years.
She now teaches 4th grade at the North American Martyrs Catholic School in Lincoln.
Kelly says, "I have been thinking about a project like this actually for about ten years. And then it was this summer that it dawned on me, why don't we start with the teachers first because they're actually the underlying foundation of what our students do in the classroom and so I've been delivering an Apple Wishes gift bag since the end of October, once a week to different schools. It's about 'paying it forward' and our teachers are bombarded with standards and testing and this just brings it back to keep that passion alive for the teachers and it just brings it back to, 'This is why I wanted to become a teacher."
Kelly wants to do what ever she can to keep the passion alive for her fellow teachers so if you are located anywhere in Nebraska & you'd like to honor a fellow educator with an Apple Wishes surprise go to the Apple Wishes for teachers facebook page and get in touch with Kelly.
