Lance's Journal: Beatrice Board Game Inventor, Jan. 19, 2018

Thirty years ago, Larry Halsey dreamed up a great way for adults and children to spend quality time together.

It all started on a weekend back in the late 1980's. Larry was about 50 years old and he and his wife were playing cards with some friends.

The little kids started complaining that they didn't have anything fun to do...and that sad scenario set Larry's inventive mind into motion.

Larry is a natural born thinker. And once he decided that he wanted to come up with a fun game for the whole family to play, it didn't take him very long to come up with the idea for a traditional board game. Larry says, "As I worked the fields, I started thinkin' and I came up with the board game called 'Roll-a-Hand'.

Larry sold the game in Beatrice from 1988 to 1990. But he put the game on the shelf and devoted all of his energy to his tire business.

Until a few years back when a woman who had one of these games a long time ago, wanted one to give to her sister. Larry helped her out, "Well I had one in the basement and I gave it to them."

And just like that, after brief 28 year hiatus. Roll-a-Hand is back on the market.

If you'd like to purchase a 'Roll-a-Hand' game for yourself. Larry is selling them out of his tire store for $18.95.
