Lance's Journal: Den Mother of Nebraska Horse Racing, Apr. 10, 2017

Just because Ann Shea is often referred to as "The Den Mother" of horse racing in Nebraska, don't think for a minute that's she's soft.

She lays down the law for anyone who dares work at Fonner Park without a license...but she does it with a smile!

This energetic 85 year old says, "Everybody has to have a license who works on the race track. It's very important that we get everybody licensed."

Ann started her career in horse racing in 1972, 45 years later, she still loves it, "Oh, I enjoy working with all of these people, they're all a big family and I really enjoy working with them and some of them I've known when they were this tall and now they're grandparents practically, so."
