There are literally thousands of high school show choirs in the United States.
But only three of them are made up entirely of young men.
Around Grand Island Northwest High School, David is know simply as Mr. Shack.
Over the past 20 years, Mr. Shack has been instrumental in molding the Northwest fine arts department into one of the finest in the state of Nebraska.
Mr. Shack's latest brain child is called, The Doods, "Last year during auditions for our varsity show choir, myself and the other judges saw this huge talent base of young men."
And just like that, the idea for an all male show choir was born for the first time ever at GINW.
Mr. Shack has enjoyed the ride thus far, "It has been a really great surprise to me as far as the kind of energy just all men bring to the room and their commitment to wanting to sing and dance and sweat and work hard."
P.J. Smith is in charge of the Northwest fine arts program and he can't say enough about these young singer/athletes, "When I saw them perform for the first time, I thought, 'We've got something special.'"
