Combat veterans often face a long road to recovery after they return to the United States. Some of those veterans are using art as a therapy and some veterans are just naturally drawn to the arts.
But no matter what the reason is that a veteran picks up art, it has proven effective in relieving some mental health issues.
A Lincoln art gallery is doing what they can to encourage more military veterans to get in touch with their creative side.
Twice a year Gallery 9 on 9th Street holds an invitational art show.
This January the theme of the show is the artwork of five U.S. military veterans.
Bruce Thiel is the Gallery 9 member who came up with this brilliant idea, "We're all hoping we get other veterans in here to come in and see what veterans are doing in the area of art, hopefully get them interested in exploring it themselves, maybe it will help them."
The show will be on display & the vets works of art will be on sale through the end of January at Gallery 9 at 124 South 9th Street in Lincoln.
