HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Many of us know someone with cancer, but most of us don't know what it's like to have it.
Mary Ann, three time cancer survivor.
But Mary Ann Wright, unfortunately is too familiar with the disease.
"This is actually my third cancer, and this is DCIS breast cancer, previously, I had melanoma and breast cancer on the other side," said Mary Ann.
Getting diagnosed with cancer would have many bowing their heads in sadness. But when Mary Ann Wright first heard what she calls the 'c' word, she used her disease as an asset.
"The firs time was a learning experience, I had no idea that about cancer and the different kinds of cancer and all the treatment options and how to even decide what to do," said Mary Ann.
Her spirit isn't the only thing that's tough.
"You don't really feel anything, you might get a little tired, you might get a rash. Last time I got pretty burned, but now with the new technology, it's not as strong," said the survivor.
Though today marks a very special day for the survivor.
"Today is the end of the journey! And like I said, I just feel so blessed because it could have been a lot worse, but it's just a release to be done with the treatment and move on with life," said Mary Ann.
