Man arrested for stealing phone, displaying knife

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police arrested a 27-year-old man after he stole a person’s cell phone, and made a stabbing motion toward him with a knife.

LPD said on July 7, a 57-year-old reported he was seated on his porch in the 1900 Block of S 17th Street when a man approached and asked to borrow his cell phone. The victim let the man use the device, but he took it and rode away on his bicycle.

On July 9, the victim reported he saw the suspect near 13th and F Street, and confronted him about the stolen phone.

The suspect, Scott Tillman, 27, displayed a knife, the victim said, and made a stabbing motion toward him.

Officers located Tillman near 10th and D streets a short time later, and after a brief foot pursuit, took him into custody.

He was arrested for terroristic threats, refusal to comply with the order of a police officer, and theft.
