HASTINGS, Neb. -- The Adams County Sheriff's office has identified a man who fell to his death Friday near a future fertilizer plant in Hastings.

Officials said the man has been identified as Rafael Ayala Orozco of Grand Island. They say the investigation into what led up to the fatal fall is still underway.

The emergency call came in around 4 p.m. Friday. It happened at a fertilizer plant construction site near the intersection of Highway 6 and Showboat Road.

Officials said Orozco fell from a structure at the construction site from a height of about 80 feet.

Assistant Fire Chief Curt Smith said Orozco was already dead when emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office along with Hastings Fire and Rescue and the Nebraska State Patrol were on the scene for much of the evening Friday.
