Man shot in squirrel hunting accident

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Police said a man walked into Bryan West Hospital Monday afternoon with a gun shot wound. Officers said the wound was the result of a squirrel hunting accident.

LPD said the 30-year-old man and his friends were hunting squirrels near Schuyler at the White Tail Wildlife Management Area.

Police said one of the man's friends fired his gun at a squirrel, accidentally hitting the man in the thigh.

Officers said the man was shot between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Monday morning, and walked into the Lincoln hospital around 2:00 p.m.

LPD said the man has non-life threatening injuries.
