LINCOLN, Neb. -- McAlister's Deli has announced its grand opening in Lincoln and will serve its first sandwich on May 11.

McAlister’s Deli, a Dallas-based franchisee, will open its first restaurant in Lincoln at 500 N. 48th Street.

McAlister's will take over the old Boston Market location near 48th and Vine streets, and will feature a drive-through and online ordering.

In addition to the May 11 grand opening, McAlister’s is also offering $50 gift cards to the first 50 people in line. Gift cards will not be handed out until 10:30 a.m., and winners must remain in line to receive their card.

The chain is classified as fast-casual, offering handcrafted sandwiches, fresh salads, giant stuffed spuds, and sweet tea.

The restaurant is 4,000 square feet and will seat up to 128 guests. McAlister's, which is operated by The Saxton Group, plans to hire 35-40 employees.

“We can’t wait to make the Capital City home to Nebraska’s second McAlister’s Deli location. People across the Midwest have fallen in love with McAlister’s Famous Sweet Tea and huge menu of sandwiches, salads, soups, and giant spuds, and I’m certain Lincoln will be no exception. Plus, Lincoln will get to enjoy our recently launched experiences that make dining with McAlister’s even easier for our guests including app-based ordering, a surprise and delight rewards program, and drive-thru for on-the-go convenience,” says co-CEO of The Saxton Group, Adam Saxton.

The restaurant will represent the franchisee’s 79th McAlister’s Deli restaurant.
