LINCOLN, Neb. -- The latest episode on The Ellen Show Monday featured a mother-daughter duo from Lincoln.

Chassidy Jackson-Goodwin works for the Lincoln Police Department, and she's a mother to 19-year-old Jaida, a junior at UNO. But Chassidy put her education on hold to support Jaida.

"I wrote in, and then we found out two weeks ago we got tickets," Jaida said.

While Chassidy was recovering from surgery, she watched The Ellen Show everyday -- wishing she could be there someday.

Someday came last week.

She played a game with Melissa McCarthy on the show. Then, the two were surprised with $75,000.

"A dollar would have been exciting to get from Ellen; anything would have been exciting to get from Ellen," Chassidy said.

Her daughter added, "People like Ellen remind you the good and the positivity in the world. And it's just important to focus on those moments that life gives you that are just memorable....and you can remember for the rest of your life."

Chassidy will finish her bachelor's degree in criminal justice online at UNO. She says there's no way she will stop serving her community with the Lincoln Police Department.
