GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A former member of the Nebraska Danger indoor football team has been arrested on felony child abuse charges.

Grand Island Police said former defensive back Jamar Love and the child's mother, Lola Bouatic were arrested Tuesday night.

Police said a neighbor reported hearing a nine-year-old boy cry and called it in.

According to GIPD, Love and Bouatic were disciplining the boy by forcing him to do wall sits against a fence for about 45 minutes to an hour, and when the boy failed he was struck with a phone charger cord.

The two are now out on bond with the judge's orders to not have contact with the child. The boy is currently in protective custody.

Love is set to appear in court October 31 at 10 a.m.
