The Center For Disease Control officially designated Nebraska a 'Red State' when it comes to the flu, meaning the state has been upped to "widespread" status in the weekly flu survey.
Flu, also known as the influenza, is a contagious disease that is caused by the flu virus. It attacks the respiratory tract in humans (nose, throat, and lungs). The flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly and may include these symptoms:
- Tiredness (can be extreme)
- Dry cough
- Sore throat
- Nasal congestion
- Body aches
State health officials say there's still time to get a flu vaccination.
