LINCOLN, Neb. -- A new restaurant in town is bringing a taste of the Middle East to North Lincoln.
Habibi Kabob opened their doors Friday, and said they are overwhelmed by all the support. They even had to stop taking orders that evening at 5 p.m. because the kitchen was so busy.
Mo Aljaberi said his brother Karar had the idea to open the restaurant after coming to America from Iraq and finding very few places serving authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in the capital city.
They want their food to be enjoyed by everyone in the city though, not only people from their native countries.
"We share what we know. So like we know how to cook our food and bring it here. So it's a message: try it, and if you like it, we'll you know continue serving it for you," said Mo Aljaberi.
The store's menu features chicken, steak and lamb kabobs, schwarma and five different authentic sides. They were happy by the turn out today and said they plan to hire more workers to reduce wait time in the future.
