North Platte man accused of abusing his children

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Police say 31-year-old James Kevin Coleman abused his two-month-old, and 2 1/2-year-old toddler.

North Platte Police Investigator John Deal says the case started in June, when a 2-month-old child was taken to Great Plains Health.
X-rays revealed several fractured ribs and "non-displaced skull fracture."

Doctors say the broken bones happened over time.

And since Coleman was arrested in 2009 for abusing his baby, Investigator Deal says they requested medical history for his third child.

Deal says police discovered the 2 1/2-year-old was taken to the emergency room and the doctor during the first few months of the child's life.

The investigation revealed abuse when the toddler was in Coleman's care.

The children's mother tells NBC Nebraska that the children were placed with her and are in her care.

Coleman is no longer in jail. He bonded out Monday, January 9th, with a bail of 10% of $75,000.
