One dead after aircraft crashes near Blair Airport

BLAIR, Neb. (WOWT)-- The Washington County Sheriff's Department confirms a man from Glenwood, Iowa has died after a small aircraft crashed near the Blair Airport.

Authorities told our sister station WOWT the tow plane and other vehicles are blocking the view of the wreckage.

The Blair Police Department is handling the investigation. They tell us only one person was on board at the time of the crash. They also said the plane was taking off when it crashed.

That person is a 59-year-old man from Glenwood, Iowa. His family has been notified of the crash, but authorities are not yet releasing his name.

The FAA and the NTSB were on location to help in the investigation.
