Grand Island man killed in two-vehicle collision north of Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hall County Sheriff's Office has identified a Grand Island man killed in a two-vehicle crash late Wednesday afternoon.

The Hall County Sheriff's office said Dustin Shaw, 28, Grand Island, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle, Richard Hickman, 38, of Dannebrog was taken to CHI-St. Francis hospital with what the sheriff's office called non-life threatening injuries.

The accident occurred just before 5:00 PM Wednesday at the intersection of 1-R road and 90th road in northwest Hall county.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Shaw's vehicle was was east-bound on 1-R road and missed a stop sign, then struck a pick-up driven by Hickman.

Shaw's vehicle flipped and landed on its top and he had to be extricated from his car. He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Francis..

Hickman was wearing a seat-belt. The sheriff's office was still investigating to determine if Shaw was using a seat-belt and what other contributing factors may be involved.
