O'NEILL, Neb. -- Larry Goynes, 27, has been booked into Douglas County Corrections for First Degree Murder, accused of the fatal shooting of Army Sergeant Kyle LeFlore on January 6th.

Police announced the arrest Friday night.

The arrest warrant was obtained January 12th. Goynes was located by members of the Omaha Police Gang Unit and taken into custody without incident.

The shooting happened early last Saturday morning outside the Reign Bar in the 8900 block of North 30th Street.

Sgt. LeFlore, 27, was home on a brief visit.

Authorities got the call about the shooting shortly after 1 a.m. They found LeFlore unresponsive in the parking lot and initiated CPR before transporting him to the hospital. He was dead on arrival.

His father, Kay LeFlore, told our sister station WOWT 6 News last week, “He could have lost his life in Afghanistan, two tours in Afghanistan. He could have lost his life on tour in Iraq. And yet someone here in this city thought they could kill him and go about their lives.”

Sgt. LeFlore leaves behind a wife and a 5-year-old son.
