LINCOLN, Neb. -- According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, inmates in two galleries at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution refused to return to their cells around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) was activated and sent into the unit, but all of the inmates had returned to their cells by that point.

The situation was resolved peacefully without damage to the facility or injuries to staff or inmates.

A group of 36 inmates that were in the unit foyer, or still in a dining hall, were placed in the gym while the unit was being secured. Inmates were then all escorted back from the gym and returned to their cells.

The two galleries are on modified operations with limited movement, no visits or phone calls.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said the galleries will resume normal operations as soon as it is appropriate. The rest of the facility is in normal operations.
