Teen killed in rollover in Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, Neb. - A 16-year-old has died following a rollover accident in Howard County, according to the sheriff's office.

Howard County dispatchers received the call of a one vehicle rollover on a gravel road at 10:14 p.m. Thursday.

Howard County Sheriff Tom Busch confirmed that Bailey Jean Packer, 16, of Howard county was killed. Busch confirmed that another teenager, Navi Neilsen, 17, of Hall county, was injured in the accident and was transferred to CHI-Good Samaritan hospital in Kearney where she was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon.

Authorities said the vehicle was heading northbound on a gravel road about five miles east of St. Paul, when it went out of control control and rolled. Both teens were ejected from the vehicle. Seat belts were not in use.

At this time, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The Howard County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the crash. A reconstruction team from NSP was called to assist.

The accident remains under investigation.
