Police give 12-year-old girl a ticket after driving without a license

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The accident happened at the intersection of E Street and Willow Street in North Platte Thursday morning. Deal says the 12-year-old did go to the hospital with complaints of head and leg pain. Deal says she was driving 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan. About $4000 in damage was done to the Hyundai.

The girl hit a 2013 Ford Fusion and caused about $3000 in damages.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The 12-year-old was issued a citation for no operator's license.

On Thursday morning, North Platte Police say a girl was driving east on E Street when she collided with another car at the intersection of E and Willow.

NPPD said the 12-year-old stopped at the stop sign, but pulled into the intersection and did not see the other car driving north on Willow St.

Police don't believe either driver was distracted or impaired.

There were only minor injuries. The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police have not said why the girl was driving.
