UNL student facing charges for carrying gun on campus

LINCOLN, Neb. – A 21-year-old University of Nebraska student is facing charges after he was observed with a firearm on campus.

On March 1, a staff member inside the Military Naval Science Building saw Joseph Dembowski in possession of a handgun, University of Nebraska Police Sgt. Aaron Pembleton said.

The staff member reported the situation to the UNLPD, and Dembowski was taken into custody.

He is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Sgt. Pembleton said Dembowski has had no other incidents on campus prior to his arrest, and no threats were made.
