Unclaimed pize for winning lottery ticket sold in Elkhorn expires soon

LINCOLN, Neb. (Press Release) A $5,000 Nebraska Mega Millions® prize from September 2016 will expire on Sunday, March 26.

For the September 27, 2016, Mega Millions drawing, a winning ticket was sold at Hy-Vee Gas, 909 South 180th Street in Elkhorn. The ticket matched four of the five winning white ball numbers (14, 16, 26, 53, 72) and the Mega Ball number (4) for $5,000.

Winning Nebraska Lottery Lotto tickets expire 180 days after the drawing. Players are encouraged to check their tickets and if they have the winning Mega Millions ticket, they should claim the prize before the end of the business day on Friday, March 24.

Prizes up to $19,999 can be claimed by mail or at a Lottery claim center in Grand Island, Lincoln, Norfolk, North Platte, Omaha, or Scottsbluff. The Omaha claim center is located in the Nebraska State Office Building at 1313 Farnam Street.

The odds of winning $5,000 playing Mega Millions are 1 in 739,688. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 14.7.

The Nebraska Lottery has offered Mega Millions since March 2010. Sales of Nebraska Powerball have exceeded $74 million and have helped raise a total of over $627 million for the Nebraska Lottery’s beneficiary funds. All 93 counties in Nebraska have benefited from projects funded with these Nebraska Lottery proceeds.
