Samantha Halstead, the former Kearney YRTC employee who was convicted of sexually abusing one of the teenage boys at the center, is going to jail.

Halstead, 28, was sentenced for felony second degree sexual abuse of a protected person. On Friday a judge sentenced her to 30 days in jail and four years probation.

The state patrol arrested Halstead after a facility administrator learned of the alleged activity.

Halstead resigned her position as a licensed provisional mental health practitioner, and will serve her sentence at the Buffalo County Detention Center in Kearney.
