Anthony Banderas calls Nebraska football a "family business." His dad, Tom, and brother, Josh, both played for the Huskers. So when Anthony got his chance to join the Huskers, he couldn't say no.
Banderas was offered a walk-on opportunity by new head coach Scott Frost two months ago. Prior to that, Banderas intended to accept a scholarship at South Dakota. He was a two-way standout at Lincoln Southwest, where he helped the Silver Hawks qualify for the Class A playoffs in 2017.
Banderas will be among an impressive walk-on group announced on Wednesday. Frost has made an intentional, aggressive push named 'Homegrown' to keep Nebraska's top prospects in-state. Banderas will be one of four Silver Hawks walking on at Nebraska.
