CSG Torch Run visits Lincoln Saltdogs game

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Cornhusker State Games Torch Run arrived in Lincoln Friday, for pregame festivities at the Saltdogs game vs. the Gary South Shore Railcats at Haymarket Park.

The Torch was carried onto the field prior to the game by Nebraska National Guard soldiers running in cadence.

After the game, fans also enjoyed fireworks as part of the Saltdogs’ Fireworks Friday series.

The route into Lincoln began Friday at 10 a.m. at the Butler County Courthouse in David City and proceeded north on Highway 15. Runners were scheduled to reach the turn east onto Hwy 34 in Seward at about 2:30 p.m. and arrived in Lincoln at the junction of Highway 34 and Fletcher Ave. at about 5:30 p.m.

The Torch Run, sponsored by the Nebraska National Guard and Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association, is the precursor to the 2018 Cornhusker State Games.

The Cornhusker State Games will take place July 20-29.
