LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska baseball team began fall practice Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskers are coming off a season in which they won the Big Ten regular season championship and advanced to play in the Corvallis Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Senior P/OF Luis Alvarado and 1B/OF Scott Schreiber are back with the Big Red after turning down professional contracts. Alvarado and Schreiber were both selected in the 2017 MLB Draft.

After serving as Nebraska's closer last season, Alvarado is attempting to transition to a starting role on the mound for the Huskers.
