Farniok's first start

Matt Farniok graded as one of the Huskers' top offensive lineman against Oregon, according to assistant coach Mike Cavanaugh. That's a quite impressive statement considering Farniok was making his first career start.

The redshirt freshman was elevated to first string with right tackle David Knevel out with an ankle injury. Knevel's status for the Huskers' week 3 contest against Northern Illinois is questionable. If Knevel is unable to play, look for Farniok to start again on Saturday.

"I'm trying to be the best I can be," Farniok said. "Also (I want to) make sure there's no drop-off and make sure we keep going forward as a team."

Farniok is a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman from Sioux Falls.
