Held to throw out first pitch at Royals game

Ryan Held played football at Nebraska in the mid-1990s. He could've played baseball, too. Held says John Sanders offered a walk-on spot to the Overland Park, Kansas native. Held was a successful high school pitcher with a fastball that could reach 87 miles per hour.

Held will be back on a baseball mound this weekend as he throws out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Royals game on Saturday. The NU assistant football coach admits he'll be nervous with several family members and friends in attendance. Held is a lifelong Royals fan and says he followed the team's championship run in 2015 closely.

Saturday is Husker Night at Kauffman Stadium.
