Nebraska Wesleyan advances to the Sweet 16

LINCOLN, Neb. – The P-Wolves are in the Sweet 16. The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team turned up the heat in the second half this past weekend to earn an 82-61 victory in the second round of the NCAA DIII basketball tournament in St. Louis. The Prairie Wolves tied a school record with their 26th win of the season, equaling the total of 1985-86 team that advanced to the NCAA III final four. They are now on a nine win streak and need four more to come home with a championship. This is their first NCAA III Sweet 16 appearance since the 1996-97 season when they advanced to the NCAA DIII Championship game.

Wesleyan now advances to the sectionals where they will face the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. This is their 3rd meeting against the Pioneers and the first time since the 1971-72 season. The Pioneers are currently ranked #8 in the NCAA DIII top 25 and have a record of 24-4. The two teams will play on Friday night, March 9th in Platteville, WI.
