Parrella's jersey retired at GICC

John Parrella's football career includes success both in the NFL and at Nebraska. But before joining the Cornhuskers, he was a standout at Grand Island Central Catholic.

On Wednesday, the school retired Parrella's #89 jersey. He was a two-time all-state selection with the Crusaders Parrella's prep accolades also include being selected for the Shrine Bowl and earning all-Heartland Super Squad honors twice.

Parrella currently serves as an assistant coach at Nebraska. In the NFL, the Grand Island native played 12 seasons, recording 26.5 sacks and appearing in the Super Bowl three times.
