The festivities were underway at Grand Island Central Catholic this past Sunday.
“It was pretty much like any other Karnival Kapers. We had the same games and activities as the past years,” senior Bryce Walker said.
One big difference this year was the set up. In past years the games were set up in the cafeteria. This year everything was moved to the gym. Bingo was previously held in the library but this year the cafeteria was the proud host of the screams of “Bingo!”
“It was kind of weird walking around on Friday watching the Student Council kids set up for everything. I was confused when I saw all the games in the new gym,” senior Grady Meents said.
Even though the venue deviated from the norm, the atmosphere was the same as ever. Little kids running around winning tickets and buying prizes and young men with brand new haircuts courtesy of the Karnival Kutters. There were still the sound of forks and knives scraping the trays in the old gym and little kids with freshly painted tattoos on their excited little faces. It’s truly a magical time.
One new booth was added to the plethora of games already present in the new gym. A pie throwing stand was a very obvious attraction during the course of the day. Zach “Toad” Schroder was quick to volunteer to be the recipient of the pie to the face game.
“I thought it would be kind of funny,” Schroder said.
With another year of experience under our belts, we can all look forward to many more successful Karnival Kapers in the years to come.
