Applications Being Accepted for 2011 Police Citizen Academy in Kearney

The Kearney Police Department is now accepting applications for the 13th Citizen Police Academy. Seven (7) sessions will be held on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Kearney/Buffalo County Law Enforcement Center. The sessions will be on January 13, January 27, February 10, February 24, March 10, March 17, and March 24, 2011. Applications can be picked up at the Law Enforcement Center Front Desk, 2025 Avenue A, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The application can also be found on the City of Kearney website under “Police”. Topics covered will range from Criminal Investigation, Accident Investigations, Patrol Operation, Use of Force, and Special Operations.

Citizens interested must have no felony convictions, no convictions for crimes of violence or domestic violence, and no DUI or drug convictions in the past four (4) years. Participants must be at least 18 years of age. A background check will be conducted on all applicants. Applicants will be notified if accepted into the Academy.
