Community leaders in Grand Island say the city has met the funding requirements to bring the Nebraska State Fair to G.I.
Funds were certified at a G.I. City Council meeting Tuesday night, according to State Fair Coalition Coordinator Lisa Willman.
Grand Island was responsible for $8.5 million of the fair move.
The community raised $1.25 million in private funds from all over Central Nebraska.
Other funds came from city and county pledges.
Willman says fundraiser will continue to create an endowment or maintenance fund for the grounds.
A groundbreaking is expected to happen as early as next week.
