News Release from the Literacy Council of Grand Island:

The Literacy Council of Grand Island will host an evening of fine dining, silent and live auctions on Thursday, November 5th. Doors open at 5pm and dinner is served at 6:30pm at the Grand Island Saddle Club, 1 Kuester Lake.

Individual tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by contacting the Literacy Council office at 308-385-5515.

Director Diann Muhlbach said, "When someone's having difficulty reading or understanding and they learn to read, it's like a feeling you can't describe. You're so elated they're able to read and weren't able to before. You find they get a better job because they could read and speak English."

The Literacy Council of Grand Island is a not-for-profit, public organization supported by the generous gifts received through private donations and grants from various organization.

The focus of this fundraising banquet is to salute their volunteers, who donated thousands of hours each year engaging in one-on-one tutoring with hundreds of children and adult students to help them learn to read and write.
