The cool, wet conditions not only are delaying Nebraska's corn harvest, ear rots and grain molds could add their plaguing presence to some fields.
Tamra Jackson is a University of Nebraska-Lincoln plant pathologist. She says ear rots and grain molds hurt grain quality and can cost farmers at the elevator when they try to sell their crops.
She says the problems get only worse when the grain is stored in bins.
Experts say farmers should get their grain tested if signs of rots or molds show up.
