Some of the lights at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport aren't there to illuminate the runway, but rather the holiday season.

The airport hit the switch for the 3rd Annual "Festival of Lights" Monday evening. The 25 festive light displays will be on every evening from 5-11pm until January 3.

Airport Executive Director Mike Olson said thousands of people came by to see the display last year, and he hopes just as many do this year.

"Hopefully we'll get a little snow - very little - to make the Christmas lights illuminate that much more," he said.

Many of the decorations were once displayed at Roger Luebbe's residence, and the airport tries to add one more each year to keep it fresh.

Olson said that with evening outbound flights, even more people are sure to enjoy this year's display.
