Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island has expanded its parking just in time for holiday travelers.

Airport executive director Mike Olson told the Grand Island Independent that the new parking lot southwest of the main terminal building adds 160 spaces to the existing 300 spots.

Olson said a covered parking structure under construction will have 42 stalls and should open in February.

He said extra parking is necessitated by the increase in travelers using the airport.
