Many people spend Thanksgiving with family and friends chowing down on a traditional turkey dinner, but for some people that isn't always an option.
One homeless shelter in Hastings wanted to make sure their residents and anyone else who needed it, got a turkey dinner this year.
The Crossroads Center was preparing to serve 200 meals Thursday evening. More than twenty volunteers came to help prepare and serve the food. Those who helped in the kitchen said it was a great way to keep the cycle of giving in motion.
"One of the core principles of Crossroads is the Christian idea of giving," said Sean Eskeli, a kitchen leader. "This place exists because the community gives to it. It's only fitting that we give back."
Crossroads Center is a homeless shelter that provides food, shelter, clothing and a Four Phase Program to homeless men, women and families. The Thanksgiving holiday is an annual highlight of the giving that happens there everyday.
"Here tonight we can see all sorts of folks helping out here, giving their time and their energy having helped prepare this meal," Eskeli said. "We're enjoying feeding anybody who wants to come in the door."
