NCN Debuts on MyTV

For years the Grand Island newsroom has been bringing you a few stories every night on 10/11 News. Now with Nebraska Central News, we'll be bringing you a whole newscast full of stories that affect you.

"NCN or Nebraska Central News is something that we've been talking about for awhile. It's something that we think that we can do a better job as an organization focusing on the things that are happening in Central Nebraska," said Jason Effinger, KOLN/KGIN general manager.

NCN will focus not only on Central Nebraska news, but also the weather and high school sports that are happening in your area. Work continues behind the scenes to improve that coverage.

"We're doing things with laptops, bringing liveshots right from a laptop right to you on the air. [We'll be] using the latest technology instead of printing gobs of scripts and things where you see the anchors holding paper - we're using things like an IPad to deliver those scripts," said Effinger.

There will be new faces as we continue to add staff, as well as people you may already recognize.

"I'm pretty excited about the team that we put together and the information that we're going to be able to bring to the people of Central Nebraska," said Effinger. "That's what this newscast is about is giving them a better opportunity at a better time period to bring them their news at their time."

So tune in, give us your story ideas, and get your local news, weather, and sports on NCN!

NCN airs Monday through Friday at 9:00 p.m. on My TV. You can find us on Channel 17 on Charter Cable, 25 on Direct TV, over the air on 10.2 or 11.2, channel 110 on Time Warner Cable, 58 on Mid States Cable, Channel 55 Galaxy Cable, and 10 on Cable Nebraska.
