Nebraska to Offer Food Safety Workshops

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and other agencies will be offering food safety workshops across the state in February and March.

The workshops are aimed at helping producers meet new federal requirements. The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act says producers
must evaluate potential hazards to their products, find ways to prevent contamination and write food safety plans.

Workshop topics include worker sanitation, harvesting, packaging, storage and transportation of fresh produce from farms to markets, schools and restaurants.

The workshops will be held in Lincoln, Grand Island, Auburn and North Platte.

To register, e-mail gaps@unl.edu or call 402-472-2940. Online registration is available at the University of Nebraska Rural Initiative website, found through the link below, by clicking on the GAPs Training link under Announcements.
