Cornhusker State Games officials have announced that online registration will remain open at least through Friday, July 3.
"Thanks to good technology and efforts of the staff and volunteers, we're staying on top of entry processing. That means we'll be able to prepare for the competitions in a reasonably short amount of time. At this point, we're comfortable keeping it open at least through Friday. There's nothing worse than having to turn people away," Executive Director Dave Mlnarik said.
To register or receive more information visit CornhuskerStateGames.com or call 1-800-304-2637.
Games Numbers Up!
More than 9,000 participant entries had been received and processed as of midnight June 29, causing officials to predict an overall increase of more than 1,000 entries over 2008.
"Tracking to the corresponding day last year, we're showing an increase of 1,200 participants, so we're still projecting a final number of more than 13,000 when all manual processing and late entry-sports are settled at the end of the Games," Executive Director Dave Mlnarik said.
Seventeen sports already show increased numbers. Big gainers include Open Water Swimming, up 127% (from 15 to 34), Foosball, up 77% (from 26 to 46), Cycling-Road Bike, up 50% (from 54 to 81). Other sports with double-digit increases include Swimming (up 21 to 347), Bocce (up 10 to 36), Powerlifting (up 14 to 94), Softball (up 40 to 690) and Triathlon (up 34 to 422).
